Olay Total Effects 7 in One Anti-Aging Moisturizer Review

I have another BzzAgent campaign to blog about - this time the Olay Total Effects 7 in One Anti-Aging Moisturizer.

I received this a couple weeks ago and have been using it for my under eyes.  According to the information I received from BzzAgent, this cream is supposed to fight the seven signs of aging.

With it’s vitamin-rich formula, Olay Total Effects is said to:
- Visibly smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
- Evens skin tone appearance
- Enhances brightness
- Minimizes the look of pores
- Visibly reduces age spots
- Restores firmness
- Replenishes moisture

The new trial size of Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Aging Moisturizer will be available in stores starting in February.

So far, I am liking this cream very much.  I'll give it a couple more weeks and give you my final verdict then!

CoverGirl Lashblast Volume Mascara Review

As part of a BzzAgent campaign, I was selected to test the CoverGirl Lashblast Volume Mascara

I have three things not going for me: sensitive dry eyes, thin eyelashes, and not many of them. I've tried a lot of mascaras hoping to find something that can deal with my eye and eyelash issues.

The "Very Black" is really dark. It doesn't irritate my eyes, it's buildable, it almost never clumps, it doesn't flake or leave anything under my eyes after wearing it all day, and it comes off with just water. Even though it's mainly for volume, I get nice lash length out of it too. The bonus to this awesome find is that it's readily available at the drugstore. I absolutely love this mascara.

I Really Detest Drinking Plain Water

I know I should be drinking more water.

The "rule of thumb" is you should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, however, my problem is I really detest drinking plain water.  I really don't drink water unless it's in tea, hot chocolate or have a terrible hangover.

I know if I don't drink water I will die - I've heard drinking water will make my skin glow - I've heard drinking water will prevent headaches - I've heard drinking water will do a lot of things ...

... unfortunately I hate drinking plain water

Now, I've tried other similar products with not much success, but decided to give these a shot.  I'm starting off with the ActiveBlendz Control and ActiveBlendz Defend, and I'm hoping they at least help me get my requisite ounces of water per day.  Anything else is gravy

What Happened Last Night

Have you ever woken up next to a stranger and had no clue who they are, no clue where you are or no clue how you got there? You are not alone!!

 

What Happened Last Night is a romantic comedy written and directed by Candice Cain.  It was originally a successful play produced by C2 Productions in Washington, DC in 1996 and has since been updated and transformed into a hysterical screenplay.  What happened Last Night is set on a college campus and tells the story of heartbreak, friends, rebounds, Greek life, college parties and the fog some of us have experienced the morning after.

Candice's first short film, Unspoken, was a finalist in the 2015 Disability Film Challenge and a finalist in the 2015 Olive Tree International Story Teller Film Festival.  

What happened Last Night will be the first film for Gemelli Films - a partnership between Candice Cain and Joseph Galizio, who currently operate Cain Casting and Talent Management in New York. Because of this company, Gemelli Films has a lot of connections to make an unbelievable movie.  However, they need your help to get the movie off the ground.

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to help raise the money needed to make this film, and even $1 will help - there are tons of perks for those who help support this amazing film.  Filming is slated to begin at the end of November this year (2015) and a little more than $110,000 is needed for this film, which will cover post-production editing in Los Angeles, the ability to cast some known actions in some terrific roles, permits for shooting, props, sets, wardrobe, marketing, etc.

- David Otunga

It's understandable that some people just aren't able to contribute, but that doesn't mean you can't help.  Just share the campaign and maybe others will help.  Encourage others to share - the more attention the campaign gets the better.  Even if the campaign goal isn't reached, the movie will still go ahead.  All money raised during the Indiegogo campaign will go towards production.  The more money raised, the better the production will be.

The following short video was written and directed by my good friend Candice Cain as part of the 2015 Disability Film Challenge.

What is the Disability Film Challenge? It is a 48 Hour short film competition that has been established in association with prestigious organizations such as the Media Access Awards and the HollyShorts Film Festival. It is a competition in which entrants, like my friend Candice, are allotted two days to complete production of their entry into the competition. Among other prizes, winners will have their shorts screened at the Hollyshorts Film Festival in the famous TCL Chinese Theater.

The film challenge's purpose is to motivate disabled and non-disabled film makers to be proactive in the film industry and to supply them with a means of exposure for themselves and their projects.

How to Save Money on Your Nails

Happy 2015, everyone! The new year always brings with it new opportunities and the motivation to try new things; maybe it’s a new hairstyle or trying a new beauty routine. This year, why not try something in your beauty routine that will save you money without sacrificing the cute factor?

Recently, one of my Jamberry team members worked out exactly how much she was saving annually by using Jamberry Nail Wraps. Below are the comparisons and a total of the savings (costs used are approximate)

Toes at a salon:
7 times a year at $30 each time = $210 a year in cost
took 45 mins start to finish just in salon (not counting travel time)
7 x 45 mins = 5 hours and 15 minutes a year

Toes with Jamberry:
7 times a year at $4 each time = $28 a year in cost
10 mins start to finish (no travel +required)
1 hour & 10 minutes a year

Nails at a salon:
18 times a year (every 3 weeks) at $30 each time = $540 a year in cost
took 1 hour start to finish (not counting travel time)
18 x 1 = 18 hours a year

Nails with Jamberry:
26 times a year (every 2 weeks) at $4 each time = $104 a year in cost
15 mins start to finish (no travel time required)
6 hours and 30 minutes

Total savings:
Money saved with Jamberry – toes $182 – nails $436 grand total = $618 a year
Time saved with Jamberry – toes 4 hours & 5 min – nails 11 hours & 30 mins
Grand total = 15 hours & 35 minutes

See? Making a simple switch from the salon to using Jamberry saves you over $600 in a year and almost 16 hours of your time.
